Use of the SDGs in colleges and institutes - November 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic shows us, more than ever, the importance of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals  (SDGs). Many experts agree that achieving the SDGs would help us better address the current situation, and ensure that no one gets left behind (United Nations, March 2020).

We can and must respond to the new reality that awaits us by strengthening our actions and commitments to the SDGs. In September, CICan launched the first edition of the SDG Toolkit for Canadian Colleges and Institutes, an open educational resource sharing promising and emerging practices related to the SDGs in our member institutions. This toolkit showcases our members’ SDG-specific practices in five functional units, which are: physical infrastructure, finance and administration, applied research, academic, and students and community. The toolkit will be updated on a quarterly basis.

Please take a moment to fill our the survey to share an accurate representation of how SDG-aligned initiatives are embedded at your institution. Please submit your answers by November 26th, 2020. Initiatives presented in the guide will inspire others wishing to initiate SDG efforts in their institution and thereby contribute to Canada’s 2030 Agenda National Strategy.

Please note that you will be able to submit up to ten examples.
